About her
I have a full-on life (parenting, full time job, my art) but open to company/ friendship/ possibly more.
I love art and music(classical), animals and walks in the woods, but also enjoy being at home, writing and making art/ the quiet of solitude. I would prefer a day in to a day out; and if out, a deep connection with a few rather than hanging out with many.
I love my age (hitting 50 was a great moment) and my sault n pepper hair :) , but still getting shocked seeing photos of others my age. Who are all these old people? I am still 20 something on the inside.
I have a great deal of self irony and healthy wit- but can also be shy and not always have the "right thing to say". I am sarcastic, , but in a kind way, and always open to laugh at myself.
I value honesty and despise manipulation, silent treatments or inability to talk openly. Cultural differences that shape how "honesty" and "openness" look like matter, too - I lived in three countries, feel at home everywhere and nowhere... and have a great deal to say about that. Being a social scientist means I understand the reasons/ see the connections. But I have finally learned that understanding something doesn't always make it easier.
A few more "what do I do" bits: I am an academic, researcher and illustrator, educator and visionary. I write books, teach and think about the world with paper, scissors and glue in my hands. I value being educated more than anything (not the degree per se!), but despise snobbery.
I love music deeply but sadly do not play an instrument myself (drumming on every surface doesn't really count!). Concert hall - any time! But the sociologist in me unpacks the classism of the world of classical music, too. Can't unsee that.
I prefer animals to people but cherish good companionship No patience for racism or bigotry.
I have four cats.
I know how to smile with my eyes alone, how to code switch and think in three languages at the same time, and how to draw almost anything (without AI!)
